PROVIDENCE — After serving three years as the executive director of the state Emergency Management Agency, J. David Smith plans to leave the post on July 30 to become the director of the Administration of Justice graduate program at Salve Regina University in Newport.

Salve Regina President Jane Gerety, RSM, will confer 678 degrees on Sunday, May 15, when the university celebrates its 61st commencement on the Oceanside lawn of McAuley Hall. All performances, $5 for general admission and $3 for students/senior citizens, will be given in the Great Hall of Ochre Court, 100 Ochre Point Ave. Tickets will be available at the door.

NEWPORT, R.I. – Salve Regina University’s department of performing arts will present Sarah Ruhl’s play, Eurydice, from April 14-18 on campus in the Megley Theatre, located in Antone Academic Center, corner of Lawrence and Leroy avenues.
NEWPORT, R.I. – “Oceans of Books” is the theme for this year’s March Into Reading children’s book festival, to be held Saturday, Feb. 27 at Salve Regina University.
Free and open to children of all ages and their families, the festival brings together several local authors and illustrators who host readings, workshops, book signings and other activities. No reservations are required to attend the event, which will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at O’Hare Academic Center on Ochre Point Avenue.
