Bryant University

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (July 31, 2008) – Bryant University is one of the nation’s best institutions for undergraduate education, according to the 2009 edition of The Princeton Review’s Best 368 Colleges. Only about 15 percent of America’s 2,500 four-year colleges and two Canadian colleges are included in the annual guide, which was released July 29.

The rankings are based on The Princeton Review’s survey of 120,000 students (an average of 325 per campus) attending the 368 colleges in the book. The 80-question survey asked students to rate their schools on several topics and report on their campus experiences. An institution’s appearance on the list is attributable to a high consensus among its surveyed students.

PROVIDENCE - The Rhode Island Independent Higher Education Association (RIIHEA), the membership association comprised of Rhode Island’s eight independent colleges and universities, announced that effective July 1, 2008 the organization’s new name will be “Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Rhode Island (AICU Rhode Island). ”

The Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Rhode Island (AICU Rhode Island), founded in 1979 as Rhode Island Independent Higher Education Association (RIIHEA), serves as the collective and unified voice of its member institutions, Brown University, Bryant University, Johnson and Wales University, New England Institute of Technology, Providence College, Rhode Island School of Design, Roger Williams University, and Salve Regina University.

“It is our belief that this name change will clarify the Association’s identity and purpose by eliminating identity confusion created by like-named entities” said AICU Rhode Island President, Daniel P.
