edHEALTH Roundtable Conversation and Luncheon

AICU Rhode Island, in partnership with edHEALTH, hosted a roundtable conversation and luncheon on Friday, February 23, 2018.

The roundtable discussion featured Tracy Hassett, President of edHEALTH and Stephen Hannabury, Executive Vice President of Olin College of Engineering and Chair of edHEALTH. They provided a membership update, financial update, and information regarding membership for 2019.

William Hall, Vice President for Administration/Chief Financial Officer, alongside Claudia Cavallaro, Associate Director for Human Resources and Benefits and Cynthia Donnelly, Director of Human Resources spoke of their membership with edHEALTH and outlined Salve’s recent transition to EdHealth.

Emerging Risks Facing Education Roundtable

AICU Rhode Island, in partnership with the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities in Massachusetts (AICUM), the Connecticut Conference of Independent Colleges (CCIC), and our Community Partner, Marsh & McLennan hosted an Emerging Risks Facing Education Roundtable on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA.

The roundtable discussion featured Jean Demchak, Marsh & McLennan’s Education Practice Leader, who presented topics discussed at Marsh’s Inaugural Higher Education forum recently held in Washington, D.C. Jean debriefed the audience on the various topics and presentations provided by our guests and provided her thoughts on some of the issues Education institutions will face in 2018. Tracey Hassett, President of Educators Health provided an overview of EdHEALTH during lunch.

AICU Rhode Island, in partnership with The Castle Group, hosted a Lunch & Learn on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Roger Williams University School of Continuing Studies. The panel discussion, which was moderated by Sandy Lish, co-founder/principal of The Castle Group, included Fred C. Church Inc. Senior Vice President Sam Daume, The Castle Group Vice President Carole McFall, and Holland & Knight Partner Miriam McKendall.

As discussed at the Lunch and Learn, during a crisis, it’s important to provide students and the community with a comprehensive and consistent message that communicates clearly where the institution stands on the issue at hand, reinforces its values, and highlights a plan for moving forward.

AICU Rhode Island, in partnership with Schneider Associates, hosted a Lunch & Learn on Monday, June 26, 2017 at Roger Williams University to discuss how enrollment marketing and admissions teams can improve efficiencies, enhance the quality of enrollment campaigns, and positively impact our institutions’ enrollment numbers. The panel discussion, which was moderated by Don Martelli, vice president of Schneider Associates, included Boston College, Director of Certificates & Executive Education, Bill Boozang; Bentley University, Director of the Online Degree Completion Program, Anna Meeker; and Schneider Associates, Phil Pennellatore.

Internship Summit Spring 2017

AICU Rhode Island and Rhode Island Student Loan Authority (RISLA) hosted the first Statewide Internship Summit held on Monday, May 1, 2017 at the Rhode Island State House. The summit included an internship fair, a keynote speech from Professor Robert Vincent from University of Rhode Island, break out sessions for students and employers, and concluded with a luncheon.

Student Debt with Sandy Baum

AICU Rhode Island, alongside with the Rhode Island Student Loan Authority (RISLA) hosted a “Lunch and Learn” with Sandy Baum for staff from member institutions on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 and discussed findings from her book Student Debt: Rhetoric and Realities of Higher Education Financing. Baum is an expert on higher education finance relating to student debt and affordability.
