At Johnson & Wales University, our pioneering educational model of combining academics, hands-on training, work experience tied to a field of study, leadership opportunities and career development has made JWU a recognized leader in career education.

Since its founding in 1914, the Providence Campus has grown to become JWU’s largest, with more than 10,000 students—representing all 50 states and 71 countries—enrolled in undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs. Our accredited business, hospitality, culinary arts, technology and education programs are designed to provide you with the knowledge and expertise to succeed in the global economy.

At JWU, you’re a name, not a number. Our industry-experienced faculty bring real-life experience, hands-on learning and networking opportunities into small classroom settings, so you can learn job-ready knowledge and skills. Through immersion in industry practices and experiential learning, we prepare you to both hit the ground running and to realize your long-term career goals.

Unlike other universities, at JWU you’ll take courses in your major from day one so you’ll know right away if that field is right for you. In addition, a student career advisor and faculty advisor will help you develop the best possible career plan to further your goals. And through our specialized career courses, you’ll build your resume showing the areas you’ve mastered, and graduate with a portfolio of your work that’ll set you apart from the rest.

Our Downcity Campus is anchored by the Gaebe Commons quad, a popular hub of student activity, and surrounded by a variety of shops, restaurants, cafes, performing arts centers and a scenic riverfront. The nearby Harborside campus sits on 80 scenic acres along Narragansett Bay, and houses the College of Culinary Arts, the Alan Shawn Feinstein Graduate School and the Harborside Recreation Center, home of the NCAA Division III Wildcats.

Through more than 90 clubs and organizations, special events, Greek life, athletics and leadership programs, you’ll get a full university experience at the Providence Campus. Explore JWU, and see how more than 85,000 alumni in 140 countries have launched successful careers.
